Training Basics
PocketGroove is a rhythm training app that helps musicians develop their internal clock. You tap along to real drum samples (or a metronome) while the app measures your timing precision in milliseconds, showing you exactly where each tap lands relative to the beat.
No! PocketGroove is instrument-free. You simply tap the screen in time with real drum grooves or a metronome click. This isolates rhythm from technique, letting you focus purely on timing without worrying about notes, fingering, or tone.
Rhythm is a transferable skill. By training your timing sense in isolation, you build a stronger internal clock that carries over to any instrument. Many professional musicians use tap-based exercises as part of their practice routine.

Game Modes & Features
Practice mode lets you work through any level at your own pace with no penalty for mistakes. It's ideal for learning new patterns and building confidence before testing yourself in other modes.
In Survival mode, you must maintain consistent timing. If your accuracy drops too low, the run ends. It's a test of endurance and focus — how long can you stay in the pocket?
Speed Challenge starts at a comfortable tempo and gradually increases the BPM. Your goal is to maintain accuracy as the tempo pushes higher. It's great for expanding your comfortable tempo range.
Feel Training goes beyond playing "on the grid." You practice intentionally placing taps slightly ahead (pushing, like funk) or behind the beat (laying back, like neo-soul). It trains the subtle art of groove and musical feel.
After completing a level, Ghost Tap Playback lets you hear your taps replayed over the metronome. This audio feedback helps you understand how your timing felt from the listener's perspective.
